Brownie in a mug!

I somehow think it is necessary that all of us just casually sit down and think. Think about the things that possibly have an alternative. A few days back, a friend of mine was talking to me around 2 a.m and she said: “yar sakht dil kr rha hay molten lava cake khanay ka!” So like every other person would, I told her too that she should simply make one. Her response “is time? asan nhi hota.” (It’s not that easy!)

So like I have mentioned before, I thought about an alternative to what she wanted to munch on and thankfully, A MUG BROWNIE was my solution to her problem. I’m not saying a mug brownie beats the scrumptious chocolate lava cake but yes, a mug brownie not so different from a lava cake might do the trick, at least for a while if you’re a chocolate freak like me!

What you’ll find here is an easy to make mug brownie with a prep time of 5 minutes at the max and a cook time of only 2 minutes! (or 1 minute depending on how well you know your microwave…)

Ingredients:

40g softened butter (approximately, 3 tablespoons)
2 tablespoons water
1/4 (or lesser) vanilla essence
1/3 cup plain flour
1/3 caster sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
Pinch of salt

Method:

  • Combine all the ingredients together, whisk until the batter is flowy yet firm.
  • Microwave for at least a minute and few seconds for the brownie to be cooked entirely from the sides while it stays flowy from the centre.

If you want the brownie to be even more chocolaty or you want the one in the featured image then add up nutella as much as you can.. beause you can never have too much chocolate!

**Top the brownie with caster sugar for it to look even more appetising. You can also eat it with an ice cream of your choice or top it with dark and white chocolate chunks!
